Fiat-Chrysler is bringing back one of its grooviest Heritage Hues, Plum Crazy purple, on a limited run of 2016 Dodge Challenger and Charger models.

The colour will be available for order in September through to the end of the year, but a pre-production purple-painted example of each car will debut at the Woodward Dream Cruise August 15, FCA says.

The Plum Crazy option can be ticked on Challenger and Charger SXT Plus, R/T, R/T Scat Pack and Hellcat trims.

FCA also released a production-numbers breakdown of the special-edition and special-paint Dodges it’s built since 2006; collectively, they represent less than 11 percent of all of the 1.5 million Chargers and Challengers made between then and now.

Among the rarest? 2013 model year Hemi Orange Charger SRT8s (just 48 made); and 2014 model year Bright White or Pitch Black Challenger Shaker cars (51 and 60 made, respectively).
