YouTuber Mark Rober usually makes videos that illustrate cool science tricks, but he took a turn toward toys and pop culture recently to stage an epic Hot Wheels race between five vehicles made famous by their appearance in 1980s TV shows and movies.

If you wandered into a movie theatre or flipped on the TV in the decade everyone loves to hate, you’ll recognize the cars these Hot Wheels replicas are modeled after. There’s KITT, the talking, autonomous Trans Am from Knight Rider; Ecto1, the Ghostbusters’ hearse-turned-apparition-hunter; the A Team’s iconic black-and-red van; the DeLorean time machine from Back to the Future; and the Mystery Machine, Fred’s psychedelic van in the animated Scooby-Doo series.

There are explosions, underwater sections, and trick point-of-view camera angles, but we feel it’s important to know going in this is not some Rube Goldberg-like contraption that sees the cars complete the course in one shot. Rather, each stunt was filmed independently and then edited together to create the full six-minute video, but the effect is still pretty great.

We don’t want to give away any of the tricks Mark and his friends from the 5MadMovieMakers Youtube channel pull off, so just watch the race video to see them for yourself.

But if you are curious how they pulled off their stunts, Mark and company also did a behind-the-scenes vid:
