A 24-year-old driver in Cantley, Quebec accidentally set his 2016 Volkswagen Jetta on fire while attempting to dislodge it from a snowbank by pinning the gas pedal at full-throttle while pushing the vehicle from outside, reports CBC News.

The ill-fated attempt went awry when the driver locked himself out of the car after wedging a skateboard between the gas pedal and the driver’s seat, causing the car to redline for an extended period before bursting into flames.

Had the car found traction before catching fire, the end result would’ve likely been even more disastrous and damaging.

The scene played out after midnight in the parking lot of a business complex, and police arrived to find the car fully engulfed in fire.

No charges have been laid.
