Ontario plans to become the first province in Canada to allow drivers to renew their licences online if they don’t want to do it in-person.

While still required to renew their licence in-person every ten years to replace their licence photo, Ontario drivers can now renew their licence online at the required five-year mark.

Eligible drivers can visit ServiceOntario.ca/DriversLicence to renew their licence, get new licence plate stickers or order a driver abstract. The $80 licence renewal fee is payable online via credit card.

ServiceOntario processed more than 1.6 million driver’s licence renewals in 2012.
