French automotive brand Alpine is set to debut a new sports car, the A110, at the Geneva Motor Show kicking off March 9, reports Autoblog.

The retro-inspired A110, which looks like the modern twin of the original car from decades ago, has its sights set on the Porsche Cayman as a key competitor.

Thanks to a lightweight aluminum chassis and body, the small sports coupe may be capable of tangling with some of the world’s best, including the venerable two-seater from Stuttgart.

While technical details have yet to be released, expect the smartly styled sports car to be powered by a small-displacement turbocharged four- or six-cylinder engine capable of propelling the vehicle to 100 km/h in well under five seconds.

Alpine is relaunching under the ownership of Renault, a company renowned for its sports cars and championship-winning race cars.
