This Ferrari F40 formerly owned by Eric Clapton was posted to the sale page of a London firm recently, and for the fairly reasonable price of £925,000, or roughly $1.1 million US.
The ’91 Rossa Corsa F40 hung out with the other Ferraris in Clapton’s collection from 2000 to 2003, according to the description on the GVE London website, and probably didn’t see a lot of pavement in that time: total mileage is just 11,000 km.
Though you might expect Clapton’s affiliation with the car to drive the asking way up, the $1.1-million figure isn’t all that bad, all things considered.
Classic car insurer Hagerty puts the value of fair-condition F40s at the $1.55-million mark; and excellent cars, of which this example seems to be, at $2 million.
The three F40s sold by Ontario-based auction house RM Sotheby’s this past fall and winter also cleared $1.1 million without any celebrity pedigree to their title.
What we’re saying is, if you’re a fan of rock’n‘roll, Ferraris, or both, you could get away with a hell of a steal in purchasing this car.
