If you’re wondering how Audi created the inspiring, eye-grabbing images that make up its new calendar, there’s a simple explanation: highly-creative miniaturized scale model car shoots, reports Choice Gear.

Coined the Miniaturkalender, the 12-image series Audi has put together is really a masterpiece of photographic skill employing cutting-edge techniques.

Each image in the calendar appears to tell a story, from Christmas tree-hauling; to the fateful high-speed run of Bernd Rosemeyer on the German autobahn in an Auto Union Streamliner, which ultimately cost Rosemeyer his life.

In another image, an R8 LMS GT3 racer is seen drifting on cracking ice, apparently shot from the waters below (another scale effect).

A key Audi employee in Ingolstadt, Germany had an earlier career at Minichamps miniature cars, which may, in part, explain Audi’s inspiration in creating the unique calendar images.
