This past weekend was the 20th anniversary of the Woodward Dream Cruise in Suburban Detroit. What started back then as a small fundraising event for a new soccer field has now grown into the single largest one-day automotive showcase in the world.
This year an estimated 40,000 vintage cars, trucks and what-have-you cruised 20 km of Woodward Ave in front of 1 million spectators. There is no cost to cruise, and no rules on what you can bring – a fact that is certainly reflected in some of the wild rides.
For this, my first cruise, I took my 1971 Chevy Cheyenne Super 10 for a spin and found that pickups and trucks in general were well represented.
Here is some of the eight lanes of automotive cornucopia I had a chance to shoot.
