Subaru unveiled its 2018 Ascent late November, an eight-seat three-row crossover that dimensionally is the largest the automaker’s ever offered.
The SUV also debuts a new evolution of its Boxer engine, a 2.4-liter turbo flat-four offering 260 horsepower and up to 5,000 lbs of towing capability when properly optioned up, Subaru said ahead of the Los Angeles Auto Show.
A CVT transmission and AWD will come standard on Ascent at all trim levels, as will EyeSight, the company’s active safety suite, which includes forward collision warning, active lane control, a heads-up display, and automatic emergency braking.
The Ascent will take on rivals like the Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and VW Atlas. Though prices have yet to be announced, you can expect to see the Ascent in Canadian showrooms in summer 2018.
